I went to Giant Eagle IN Cranberry Township tonight, as I do just about every Friday night, but tonite the Subs that they made should have sank to the bottom because they WERE BAD! While I realize everyone has an off night, when I blog about places and then the location does not HOLD Up to its hype, I feel the compelling need to let you know as well. The subs are on sale currently BOGO, as I wrote about a few weeks ago, but sale or no sale we purchase them because we love these subs. The subs are so much better than any SUBWAY sandwich you can get!
I got TEN, 7″ inch subs made and it took about 30 minutes. The only bread they had was Italian, even though there are 4 kinds available, they had only Italian Bread left. In addition, it seemed like asking for 10 subs was not a formidable proposal this evening either. The one employee actually came around the counter to see my list, asked me what kind of cheese and that was it, he went back around to begin assembling 2 of the ITALIAN hoagies. I purchase everyone in the house hoagies and then I also purchase them for lunch the next day l, plain and simple weekend planning! The planning was going anywhere but the right way.
I had the Italian Hoagies made WITHOUT dressing and toasted, but they were horrible. The toasted bread ended up ‘smooshy, and soggy’ from the sweet peppers that they purposely left the JUICE on, because they were not ‘too happy about making this many hoagies! (You need to know I called the manager, but I am still really upset, because I really like Giant Eagle, and While this is the exception more than the rule, I had NO DINNER after this happened) The Capicola was PURE fat and the Hoagies that had no dressing were laden in wet juice, from what I still do not know.
Look at the wrapper – the hoagies were soaked with what I still don’t know as the dressing was SEPARATE!
Each Sub was worse than other, with the exception of ONE CLUB made with NO VEGGIES and only MAYO it was the only one that survived. What makes this tale more upsetting: 2 weeks ago, I ordered 3 pizzas, and 1/2 dozen garlic knots… The knots were not cooked, the knot part was ALL dough, I called in and let them know, they assured me this was taken care of. Tonight, again, I grabbed the last 5 garlic knots, the entire middles were DOUGH.
I can not understand how a store, known for its food can not get it right. I live 15 minutes away from this particular store, so there was no running back to get it corrected and the food was ruined, and is in my GARBAGE CAN! I can not figure out how a complaint about uncooked food did not get the KNOTS fixed(and the store even refunded the money last time) I am not sure if they just don’t care or if they can’t figure out how to cook the garlic knots. As for the Subs, they are in the garbage can because they were so soggy, from the sweet banana pepper juice that was jammed on the bread.
I did speak to the manager and he wanted to refund, but this is not about refunding, this is about food that is not right the first time or the next. This is about dough knots that should be perfect, and they are not! This is about picking up food to go on a busy Friday night, and not actually ending up with a meal. This is about calling in and registering a complaint about food that is not right a few weeks ago, and the situation not getting corrected! If Giant Eagle wants to have a hot foods department then it needs to function as one and deliver food that is appropriately prepared.
The manager informed me they were not part of the Normal Giant Eagle Chains, they are individually owned, perhaps that is why they do not run like clockwork and perfectly. What I do know is that I won’t be getting my normal Friday night meals there anymore, because I don’t have MONEY to toss out the window!
