Travel to Hawaii

What am I thinking? It is the middle of October and we just came back from Florida, but I am suddenly craving a trip to somewhere warm, somewhere, lush, tropical and floral! I suddenly have the strangest image of the Brady Bunch Family and it hits me, Hawaii.  As I sit at my desk contemplating where to go, Hawaii seems to be the choice destination, let the planning begin.

I jump on over to GOGOBOT and plop in the words, Honolulu,Hawaii.  The blue skies, the tropical water, the surfing, the sand, the food and the luaus, all beckoning my family to come.  Now all I have to do is figure out where to stay, what activities to pursuit while we are there and where we might eat! It’s a snap!

As I peruse all the hotel options the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort seems to offer so many amenities that we might be looking for as a family from spacious rooms(after a day on the beach returning sunburned, everyone is sure to need their space) as well as a luxurious pool/bar area! The fact that the hotel includes a Kids Camp makes it a Pittsburgh Frugal Mom #1 contender!

In planning our activities I am actually overwhelmed by the plethora of things we can do. I believe we will take a tour of Pearl Harbor, shop in the shopping district, visit Diamond State Monument, and possibly sneak in snorkeling with the Hanauma Bay Snorkeling Excursions so we can see all the beautiful sea creatures.  I think we will be able to fit all of that into our trip without overdoing any one venue and timing it out to an excursion per day!

Finally, and most importantly is the dining, after all we are in going to be in Hawaii, we need to eat like Hawaiian Kings and Queens! Leonard’s Bakery looks like a must do for morning stops as it seems to be a hot spot.  We will be visiting the Rainbow Drive-In for their famous Hawaiian Sandwiches(or Mahi-Mahi), because they are supposedly delicious and HUGE and priced right! At night, because we will be walking a lot, the Waiola Shave Ice has our name written ALL over it! The ice is supposed to be the best around, super powdery and within walking distance of our hotel! Mmmm, Hawaii at it’s best.

“Mommy, Mommy” , whoops, guess I better get back to reality, because I have a bunch of kids calling my name, no vacation time left and the daydreaming has to stop! You can fantasize and plan too at Go Go Bot an adventure for the mind and the family!
