Where have all the ‘GOOD OLE’ Toys gone? I remember wood toys, play toys, great boxes of coloring crayons and play balls that kept me busy as a child. I am hard pressed when shopping in a store to find a toy that will actually extend the imagination of kids rather than just allowing buttons to press forth creating a new IMAGE for the kids. I believe in old fashion play time, outside time, bonfires, hanging out with the kids, soccer, badminton, jump rope, sidewalk chalk, crayons, swings, monkey bars, tire swings and anything outdoors. I want my kids to grow, learn, create and actually challenge themselves, not having things done for them through a press of a button.
How does the old saying go, “seek and ye shall find?” This is what I did, I sought out to find some old fashion play toys and I found it! Get ready to find HOLIDAY gifts that will last year round and supply a good time while providing use of the IMAGINATION! BeginAgain Toys creates toys that help keeps kids innovative, adventure-loaded and provide good old-fashioned fun. The toys at BeginAgain offer teaching through playing.
My most recent inception of a great item was from Beginagain Toys. BeginAgain is no ordinary toystore! The store is categorized into categories of play. You define your ‘wish’ for well balanced play and then you go to the category. For instance: my one child is very into coloring, so the A-is for the Artist category worked well for a toy selection. Within the category you can find items that offer creative artistic play, that encourage the children to use their skills to create. I actually chose Artist On The Go. What a great package this is and it looks the same in my box as it does on the screen, piece for piece!
I additionally chose Sportster category which is a place to find outdoor toys, items to ride-on and more. I had something very intentional in mind when choosing this category: a BALL. I know you might find that odd, but this ball is by no means ordinary, this ball will challenge the boys to play time outside, time together and most of all a new game to play.
Kickin’ Putt
My boys like to rough it up a bit, really what boys don’t? I send them outside and tell them to run off the energy! Many times I will join them and we will play an intense game of kickball(our version) and other times I just sit back and enjoy watching them as they scurry around with a ball, throw footballs or run around playing tag. This particular game livens things up a bit more. This game is a cross between soccer, kickball, discs that fly(frisbee-like) and golf.
Our version: We tossed the disc across the yard, right side up meant we could begin, wrong side up meant toss again. That tossing was the first part of our competition. We also competed to see who could throw the disc the furthest and have it land right side up! My oldest son won this and felt so great about it. He got his groove going and was able to repeat his moves over and over! I was happy for him. The next part of our game was more like bocce ball. We all took turns kicking both balls, one kick only over 2 balls towards the disc on the ground. You got 2 chances and one kick to a ball to get it to the disk. Ideally, if ball A landed near the disc you would kick ball B to tap Ball A into the disc. It was a hard game and none of us really accomplished that part, but I can tell you we played for a few hours. I was exhausted by the time we were done, oh yes, I was with the kids the whole time. We laughed, and competed endlessly!
These toys would make excellent Holiday Gifts and they are only 2 of a huge collection that BeginAgain boasts. The toys are all well-crafted and leave plenty to the imagination.
