The big question that comes into play with activating a monthly phone service is how hard is it to activate a pay-as-you-go phone? I put this very question to the challenge and allowed my tween son to do the honors of setting up the phone!
Activation of the phone was easy and required ZERO in private information. My son called the 1-800 number and activated the Net10 Android Phone with a Net10 gift Card! It took less than 10 minutes total and it even assigned a new phone number.
The phone was active the minute we got off the activation line. Please note however, that even though the phone was active when we went to load the email account it would not load. You must power the phone on and off again before you can load and connect the e mail. This was a frustrating glitch as we tried many times to get the email on and then figured out to power the phone off and then back on in order to get it to work.
The idea of having a disposable phone is cool! My son is having a great time with it! We are discussing the phone as a possible form of allowance earned in return for his contribution of chores. We are also discussing terms that the phone would not be available such as grades, behaviors, etc.
A big piece of news for all Giant Eagle/Market District Shoppers looking into possibly purchasing a pay-as-you-go phone is that Giant Eagle/Market District is offering $1 off per fuel gallon for a purchase of any pre-paid wireless and no contract phone! Ends 10/31!
